1. Party guests mingle while enjoying cuisine from around the world
2. Mimi and Kofi Nartey choose a white wine from the bar
3. Red wine put smiles on everyone’s face
4. Perhaps the most beautiful crudite Playa Vista’s ever seen
Hungry Playa Vista residents gathered at the CenterPointe Club on May 12 to sip wine and enjoy international cuisine by Chef Keven A. Lee (Bravo’s “Around the World in 80 Plates”; myworldonaplate.com). The Vietnamese banh mi sandwich, served on a charcoal black baguette with chicken, pickled veggies and daikon radish, seemed to be the crowd favorite.
The annual event includes a silent auction benefitting Playa Vista Elementary School — P.E. and art programs, teacher’s aides, and anything else the LAUSD budget doesn’t support.
This year’s auction featured a new way to participate: “All the bidding is online. People get notifications if they’ve been outbid, even people who aren’t here can continue to bid,” explained Marianna Villa, who spearheaded the auction.
Local businesses and institutions like Chick-fil-A, So Fly Kids and Loyola Marymount University provided many of the items up for auction, including gift cards, dance classes and other exciting swag.
