There’s an old joke that goes, “On St. Patrick’s Day, everyone is a little bit Irish. Except the Scottish.”
On the evening of Friday, March 15, the Scots weren’t well-represented at Runway. This was an occasion for celebrating the Irish spirt. It seemed like all of Playa Vista was there sporting green hats, beads or shamrocks while they perused handmade crafts at the night market and little hands made Irish-themed crafts.
Families danced to lively ’80s tunes performed by the enthusiastic King Benjamin’s Royal Heart, whose lead singer interacted with the audience all evening long. The night’s popular food trucks included Cousins Maine Lobster and Baby’s Badass Burgers.
If you looked carefully, you might have spotted a leprechaun or two on the patio at Hopdoddy, but you certainly couldn’t find any green beer. Sophisticated beer offerings including Unibroue’s Blanche De Chambly, Anderson Valley’s Brut IPA and North Coast Brewing’s Red Seal did not disappoint.
