As temperatures dipped into the low 50s on Friday, Jan. 26, Playa Vistans dug out their scarves, gloves and puffy coats to frolic at the Runway Night Market.
Eight different kinds of hot and creamy queso were available at The Queso Truck, while dessert was served cold and crunchy at Frach’s Fried Ice Cream truck. Little hands made string art masterpieces and Play-Doh cupcakes while their parents sipped craft beer, all to the sounds of house music from DJ Alexia Riner.
Even more exciting was the pop-up augmented reality (AR) art installation curated by Street Art House, a new art gallery, mural-making and event curation service that had its grand opening at Runway the same day. With a smartphone or tablet the AR art became animated, revealing another layer of experience for the observer.
“My co-founder and I come from tech,” said Street Art House’s Justin Fredericks, “So in 2018, we’re infusing technology and art.”
