Why go to a club when you can hang out at the studio?
On March 2, YouTube Space LA welcomed hundreds of music fans for a series of short concerts in the spacious lobby of the 41,000-square-foot video production facility.
Performers included Atlas Genius, Sonny Boy Thorn and Jordan Smith — each of whom has a large following on YouTube. But the standout hit of the night was Malaysian singer-songwriter Yuna. Many women in the audience came specifically to see her.
“She’s important because she’s fearless and not afraid to be
herself,” said event guest Noor Haydar, who has been following
Yuna since the artist first started posting music videos online. “She pursues her passion unapologetically and has a beautiful voice.”
Watching Yuna perform was “magical,” said Carissa Caparas, a deejay. “I’ve heard her through my headphones before, but I was blown away. I got the chills — and not because it was cold outside.”
