The sixth annual GNG Gottlieb Green Earth Film Festival took place Oct. 19th through Oct. 21 at the Loyola Marymount University Playa Vista Campus. The festival was a showcase for environmentally conscious films from both accomplished filmmakers and students alike. Highlights of the festival included actor Jeff Bridges’ feature-length documentary “Living in the Future’s Past” that he produced and narrates. The film isn’t as much of a how-to lesson on fixing the collapsing environment but more of an examination of the factors that led to this point. Another highlight was the festival’s namesakes Dan and Susan Gottlieb’s short documentary “The Gottlieb Native Garden: A California Love Story.” The film is a beautiful visual exploration of the famous Gottlieb garden that is a California native plant ecosystem located in Beverly Hills. For Susan Gottlieb, her film is about, “Beauty, life and constant discovery.” She hopes all the films will inspire people to, “Get involved and get knowledgeable.”
