This month’s Annenberg PetSpace Give Back focuses on supporting the generous foster guardians and shelter partners who work tirelessly to help neonatal and underage kittens that are in need of foster care. During May, volunteers can help assemble foster care kits and make homemade heating pads, which will be delivered to local partners. Registration is encouraged. Walk-ins are welcome.

Freeway Funk Yard is a large hidden lot nestled near a secret Westside Los Angeles freeway where you can see some of LA’s top comics perform in an outdoor Playa Vista speakeasy. Celebrate five years of Dorian’s live Neosoul and Yoga with a goa flow led by three different yoga teachers while grooving to Dorian’s music. Participants will move through a one-hour yoga flow with each segment of the class – beginning, middle, end – crafted by three different yoga teachers tag-team style. During this flow, you will groove to conscious neosoul music with live vocals by indie singer Dorian. Finger-snapping, toe-tapping and freestyle dance breaks along with unplugged segments with Dorian sharing the life experiences that inspired his songs as you flow is what to expect during this soulful serenading experience. Beginner-friendly, all levels are welcome. Tickets $25.

Marina del Rey Fourth of July Fireworks

One of Marina del Rey’s most popular annual events, the Fourth of July Fireworks Show, is back this year with a 10-minute display that starts at 9 p.m. The pyrotechnics will be synchronized to music played over loudspeakers at Burton Chace Park and Fisherman’s Village. The fireworks will be shot from a barge off the Marina’s south jetty. View the show from virtually anywhere in Marina del Rey, Venice Pier, Playa Vista and Dockweiler Beach. Early arrival is strongly suggested. Parking is limited and local street closures are planned to start as early as
1 p.m. in some areas.

Celebrate summer with a massive beach comedy bash in Playa del Rey featuring major headliners from Netflix and Comedy Central. Lineup includes Amy Miller (Comedy Central), JC Currais (Conan) and Garrick Bernard (Single Drunk Female, Freeform). Enjoy a 90-minute outdoor stand-up comedy show at a beachfront house in Playa del Rey. BYOB, actual seating will be limited. Guests are encouraged to bring their own beach blanket or chair.
