An excited crowd gathered at IMAX headquarters on May 8 to watch a live-broadcast Q&A with “Blade Runner 2049” stars Harrison Ford and Ryan Gosling as well as director Denis Villeneuve. Audience members also got a sneak preview of the theatrical trailer for the highly anticipated “Blade Runner” sequel.
“There’s a very strong emotional context and relationship between Ryan’s character and Deckard,” said Ford, adding that he returned to play Deckard after 35 years because “the character is woven into the story in a way that intrigued me.”
Gosling, who plays the next-generation “blade runner” Officer K, was asked how the technology imagined in both films compares to today. “We haven’t worked out the flying car thing, so that’s disappointing. But I’m being nicer to my electronics, just in case,” he said.
“Blade Runner 2049” opens on Oct. 6.
