Popular online bicycle retailer Bike Attack launched a new brick-and-mortar location in Runway at Playa Vista on July 23 by throwing a party to raffle off bikes, skateboards and swag.
Founded in Berlin 22 years ago by BMX racer Ericson Monsalud, Bike Attack has evolved to specialize in not just racers but also electric bikes (it’s a leading dealer of popular Swiss e-bike brand Stromer) and others just for pedaling around the neighborhood in comfort and style.
Bike Attack partner Andrew Smith said he doesn’t know how anyone can live in Playa Vista without a bicycle.
“You’ve got a beach less than two miles from here, you can ride to the farmers market, to the playgrounds, up the hill to Westchester for dinner. It’s all reachable by bike,” Smith said.
Bike stylist Toons One attributed his calling to experiencing the pride German women take in their bikes.
“They saw how I was doing my bike and were approaching me to do theirs. It’s an awesome way to meet women,” he said.
