YouTube Space LA was buzzing with feminine energy the evening of March 21, as videos from some of the most successful female creators were featured on the big screen.
Creators included Jenny Lorenzo, a Latinx comedian who does sketch comedy; Michelle Khare, a fitness enthusiast who trains like Spider-Man and other super-heroes; and Lindsay Ellis, who takes deep dives into pop culture and movies.
Ellis has been making “video essays” for years and finally started her own channel in 2016. She now has half a million subscribers and four employees who help her write and edit.
“What worked for me,” says Ellis, “was finally figuring out exactly what my voice and my tone was, and making content that I could stand behind. I know that sounds simple, but you have to produce a lot of garbage to figure out what that even looks like.”
