This year marks 19 years since Tami Humphrey began her real estate career in Playa Vista. Over nearly two decades, she has witnessed the community’s tremendous growth firsthand.
“I started working in Playa Vista and the surrounding areas when I moved here in 2006,” Humphrey shared. “I love this community so much, and being part of its evolution has been amazing. Many of our clients have been with us since the very beginning.”
Throughout the years, Humphrey has guided her clients through the ups and downs of the market. During the Great Recession from 2008 to 2011, she worked tirelessly to help homeowners avoid foreclosure, often negotiating with banks to facilitate short sales — selling homes for less than the remaining mortgage balance. More recently, she has been assisting families displaced by the devastating Los Angeles fires.
“There are so many heartbreaking stories,” Humphrey said. “It’s incredible to see how resilient people are. We’ve connected with many families who lost their homes and are now exploring Playa Vista. It’s rewarding to introduce them to everything this community has to offer. Many are surprised by the parks, gyms, pools, shops and restaurants here. Some are choosing Playa Vista as a temporary place to rent or buy, while others who decide not to rebuild may make it their long-term home.”
Beyond real estate, Humphrey and her team are deeply committed to giving back to the community they love. Team Tami is proud to sponsor and participate in local events, from neighborhood festivals and school fundraisers to charity drives and holiday celebrations.
“We believe in supporting the community that has given so much to us,” Humphrey said. “Whether it’s sponsoring local events, partnering with schools, or contributing to charitable causes, we are always looking for ways to give back. It’s important to us to create meaningful connections and support the people and places that make Playa Vista so special.”
One of the things Humphrey cherishes most about her career is the lasting relationships she has built with her clients. Many have worked with her five or six times over the years, whether they are expanding their families and needing more space or downsizing to a smaller home.
“We understand how significant these decisions are,” Humphrey said. “This isn’t just a transaction — it’s a major life event. We don’t take that lightly, and we’re incredibly grateful for the trust our clients place in us. Many have become close friends, and some even feel like family.”
Two years ago, Team Tami launched Fostr Property Management to provide an additional level of service for their clients’ investment properties. Their team now manages a variety of properties, from condos to single-family homes, in Playa Vista, Westchester, Playa del Rey, Marina Del Rey and across the Westside.
With deep expertise in Playa Vista, Team Tami has been inside every floor plan of every building. Their clients range from first-time buyers and young families to downsizers and parents purchasing homes for their children attending LMU.
According to Humphrey, the current Playa Vista real estate market remains competitive, with 25 homes currently for sale and nine available rentals listed on the MLS.
“Properties move quickly in this tight market,” she noted. “We recently listed a home for sale, and over 60 groups attended the open house last weekend. Homes that are well-priced and show beautifully are in high demand.”
At the end of the day, Humphrey, her husband and their team are driven by a simple goal: taking care of their clients.
“This is one of the biggest moments in someone’s life,” she said. “It’s about helping them achieve their goals and being part of their journey for years to come. Seeing families grow, watching clients find the home they adore, and walking them through the process — it’s incredibly rewarding.”
