Runway hosted a special Spring Carnival for the fundraising Friends of Playa Vista Elementary School on Sunday, April 22, with traditional street fair fun that drew families near and far.
Activities included classic outdoor games like lassoing horns at the bull rope or hammering the strength-testing high striker. A 25-foot Ferris wheel rose above the crowd, and families sporting rainbow face paint also lined up for the colorful inflatable obstacle course and slide.
Three live rock bands — the Tape Deck Heroes, the Dizzy Spells and local kids learning to play at the School of Rock — energized the mood, and food trucks lined the street with lots of delicious snacks. The aroma of funnel cakes filled the air, adding to the nostalgic vibe.
This was Playa Vista Elementary’s second Spring Carnival, and halfway through the afternoon they’d already surpassed last year’s $2,500 fundraising total. You know that means: See you next year!
