A giddy, costumed crowd gathered on Halloween at the park across from Runway’s green space known as The Lawn. Little monsters, ghouls and witches mixed with superheroes, astronauts and unicorns while a DJ spun family-friendly dance tunes. Two families of land sharks patrolled a sea of grass while dogs dressed as bees and princesses upped the cuteness factor.
The most exciting part of the event came when a group of nearly 100 Playa Vista Elementary students did their best lead-footed zombie-shimmy into the park and performed the “Thriller” dance from Michael Jackson’s classic 1982 video. Many of the undead performers were so committed to the freaky frolic, they stayed in the dead zone for the entire song, bewitching the mostly living audience.
The event was co-hosted by Silicon Beach Parents Group and Playa Vista Community Services, and sponsored by Kris Zacuto of Hilton & Hyland.
