A colorful, life-sized car piñata was the last “automobile” to park on the short stretch of Runway Road that runs through the heart of Runway at Playa Vista. On May 9, across from Healthy Spot, DJM Capital Partners Chief Retail Officer Stenn Parton and several associates donned hard hats for an enthusiastic bashing of the piñata as a symbolic gesture to signify the end of automobile traffic cutting through the complex.

The goal is to make Runway more pedestrian-friendly, encouraging visitors to hang out and enjoy the space and new tenants to deliver new experiences for them. These include clothing brand Lolë Apparel, home décor boutique Alchemy works and the Bull & Butterfly steakhouse. A 24,000-square-foot pop-up space called Free Market will host inventive retail and restaurant pop-ups, and busy moms will be thrilled to welcome Brella, a co-working space that offers childcare
